Celebrating Many Years of ServiceOPERA began life in 1990 as the Carleton Board of Education Retired Employees' Association. The Carleton Board of Education, one of the predecessor boards of the present Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, provided both encouragement to get the Association started as well as the use of a room at the Brook Lane Elementary School for meetings. After a number of years of growth - including a name change - the Association blossomed into the full-fledged organization we have today that provides ongoing social and educational services for retired education workers in our community. Each year, the Association organizes a wide variety of activities for its members. From special seminars to numerous outings to lots of shared meals together, great effort is put into finding activities that appeal to all tastes and interests. Beer tastings, wine tastings, theatre nights, group bowling, museum visits, historical tours, buffet luncheons - the list is very extensive and ever changing. If you become a member you'll find it very easy to change our offerings. All you have to do is suggest an idea and we'll do our best to deliver what you want. If you have questions you'd like to ask us, please use the e-mail link shown on the menu on this page to write to us. We'd be delighted to hear from you.
